Virtual Paint out February - Romania

Okay, here is my third Virtual Paint Out submission. This month is Romania. I choose to work in oils for this painting - which is my first oil painting in over ten years!

Below you can see the google map location that I used to create the painting. I am having so much fun with this. I like the challenge of a new place every month and it's cool to explore new places via the internet.

Start off 2011 with snow

Filming interrupted. Our street was blocked off for filming but the snow had other plans.

All the snow was fun for a day or two but I'm ready to get back to life. I can't believe so much of the country deals with this all winter. No wonder we're friendly in the South. We're not freezing and shoveling snow everyday.

This is my most recent painting from the studio. This Fall I made several passes through the Virginia mountains while traveling to art shows. You just can't beat the beauty of the Shenandoah Mountains!!!

I have tried to capture the intense beauty here on the canvas.

UGA VIII @ Geogia Homecoming 2010

My good friend Karen took me to the GA Homecoming this year and we ad a blast. We got meet UGA VIII and he helped up to a 43 - 0 win against Vanderbilt.    Good Times!!!

This is a painting inspired by my trip to Italy in '08. As a landscape painter, the Tuscany region is hard to top. Goodbye to An Afternooon in Tuscany. Just looking at it makes me want to go back.

Happy 11th Anniversary to me!!!!

Today Rob and I celebrate 11 wonderful years together.

This is our first trip to Germany together and when I knew for the first time that Rob was the one for me!

Plein air painting at the Botanical Gardens

Packed up and ready to ride! Sunday was a beautiful day to join a group of artist from the Atlanta Painters down at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for an afternoon of Plein Air painting. If you haven't been to the Gardens in awhile you really should check out all the new areas.

It turned out to be a wonderful morning and afternoon to be outside painting at the
Botanical Gardens.

Betsy, a fellow member of the Atlanta Painters found a shady spot to spend the day.

This is the small Japanese Garden at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and my subject for the day. I have such a fondness of Japanese Gardens.

Scad Classes start back on September 14th

Scad classes are starting back soon so don't forget to sign up. I want to thank all of you for sticking with the crazy 4 week schedule. Your persistence paid off and we're back to 8 week classes. Woo Hoo!

Mystic CT Outdoor Festival

AHHH! The weather is perfect in Mystic CT this weekend. This is the best weather I've had for the Mystic Outdoor Festival  yet. Just delightful! Come out if you can.

I have been looking for an old bike by a tree. Walking to my van I passed this old Honda and it's under a Willow tree of all things. How perfect.

All the wonderful paintings based on Trimble's Nursery

Last fall while driving out to Orient Point, Long Island to catch the ferry over to Connecticut, I passed this amazing nursery. I hopped out of the van and spent an hour photographing this fabulous property. I spent the winter and spring painting from their inspiration,  Thank You Trimble's! I think  I'm ready to move on... but this is the beginning of my bicycle obsession. Check back later for the Vintage Bike Series!

Cooper River Festival

Okay! Had a good day at Cooper River Today and I've got the best booth location in the park. I somehow got a double booth for free and I  have the only shade tree out there! What luck.
