"Not everyone has flipped their kayak in alligator infested waters and lived to tell the tale, then hop out unscathed to paint the scene of the crime in the best light - literally. It's exhilarating to be in tandem with nature, which is why plein air painting (painting outdoor scenery) seems such a natural fit and progression of my work. I enjoy racing the clock to capture the exact moment before the landscape changes, it presents a welcomed challenge. Dynamic color is the essence of all my art, it's also a great way to make the pieces more expressive. " |
